Mahindra XUV500 vs. Tata Aria
This post is a detailed comparison of Mahindra XUV500 and Tata Aria.
The both cars are excellent SUVs. Tata Aria is more likely MPV like Toyota
Innova whereas Mahindra XUV500 has its own unique design first time in market.
Tata Aria is little more expensive than XUV500 and also it is larger than XUV500. But question
remains which one is the best?
Exterior: The Mahindra XUV500 looks more than Tata
Aria. Exterior of XUV500 is encouraged from tiger. It has jaw like front
grill. Its headlights are so beautiful with LED row inside at the bottom. The
big circular curvy body above the rear wheels makes the XUV500 completely
different from all the cars present in the market already.
Tata
Aria is more likely a MUV. It has simple plain body. But it is designed so
cleverly that it catches the eyes because of its big size. It has dual barrel
headlights with projector beam. Both SUVs have 200 mm ground clearance. Tata
Aria is about 200mm longer than XUV500. Both SUVs have their own styles and
both are awesome in looks.
Interiors: As you
put your first step inside both SUVs are going to make you feel like luxury.
XUV500 has premium fabric seats in its basic model W6 (2WD). It has dual tone
interiors. Tata Aria has black and plum interiors in its top model Pride (4WD).
In second row of both of the SUVs there is large leg space. It also provides
more luggage space along with leg space. In both the cars third row is parallel
to second row and little bit smaller than second row.

Ride and comfort: XUV500 can give you comfort of more
number of gadgets inside than Tata Aria in lesser price. XUV500 has minimum
turning radius of 5.6 meters same as Tata Aria. Tata Aria has fuel tank
capacity of 60 liters. While XUV500 won the match here because it has 10
liters bigger fuel tank than Tata Aria. Tata Aria is about 300 kg more
heavier than XUV500 and also it is 20 cm longer than XUV500 so that you may
face little bit more trouble while reverse parking and on sharp corners in Tata
Aria. You will have 6 speed transmission gear box in XUV500 but in Tata Aria you will get
only 5.
Performance and Engine: Both the cars have 2179 cc diesel
engine. But the difference is Tata Aria has 2.2 L Dicor engine which has proved
its success in Tata Safari. And Mahindra XUV500 has mHawk engine which is being used in renowned Mahindra Scorpio. Tata Aria and XUV500 both give maximum
power of 140 bhp at 3750 rpm and 4000 rpm respectively. XUV500 can give
maximum torque of 330 Nm @1600-2800 rpm. And Tata Aria gives maximum torque of
320 Nm @ 1700-2700 rpm. Fuel efficiency of XUV500 is little bit better than
Tata Aria which is obvious because Aria has got bulkier size. Tata Aria gives
average of 10 km/liter in city and 13.9 km/liter on highways. And XUV500 gives
average of 10.2 km/liter in city and 14.3 km/liter on highways.
Variants and Price: Tata Aria has total 7 variants. And
these variants are Pure Lx (2WD), Pure (2WD), Pleasure (2WD and 4WD), Prestige
(2WD and 4WD) and Pride (4WD). The sequence of variants above is in increasing
order their prices. Ex show room price of Tata Aria starts form 9,91,000 INR to
16,54,000 INR.
Mahindra
XUV500 comes in only 3 variants: W6 (2WD), W8 (2WD) and W8 (4WD). Show room
price of W6 (2WD) is 10.2 lakh INR. And show rooms price of W8 is 11.9 and
12.88 lakh INR for 2WD and 4WD option respectively. Each of these cars are
available in 7 various colors.
Latest News: New refreshed Tata Aria is about to launch in
2013. About 35000 units of XUV500 have been sold in just one year after launch.
Conclusion: Tata aria is more likely a MPV while XUV500
is famous for its stylish designing and less price. In the final words Tata
Aria is good for the people who are more concerned to space and can pay more
money for it. XUV500 is a excellent SUV and it can give you more number of
luxurious features in lesser price in comparison to Tata Aria.
